Our current fundraising campaign

September is Desmoid Tumour Awareness Month

Our challange this year is to walk 100 miles during the month of September.

#Charityevent #CharityChallenge #Desmoid #Fundraising #Walk100forDesmoid

You can split the miles up however you like throughout the month, but it works out as just over three miles each day. You can do this by yourself, or with family and friends as a team and collectively walk or run the 100 miles. The team at Desmoid Aid UK will certainly be doing it ourselves (keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram) over the month and we’d love you (and your dogs) to join us! Walk around your neighbourhood or head for the hills and mountains and make it an adventure. However you do it, you’ll be supporting people in the UK living with Desmoid Fibromatosis.

We have two different options to create a fundraising campaigns or manage donate - JustGiving and Facebook:

Why take part?

Not a lot of people know about Desmoid tumours, but that doesn’t mean it does not have a potentially devastating effect on a person’s life. We’re here to help change that, in part through reliable information about the disease, alongside our small grants of £250.
The money you raise from this event will help us award more grants to more people who have been diagnosed with the disease.

Don't forget to take plenty of photos before, during and at the end of your challenge, and share your fundraising page with friends and family to let them know what you’re doing and why.
We’re on Facebook (@Desmoid Aid UK) and Instagram (@desmoidaiduk), so please tag us in your posts and we’ll share and amplify over the month! Use the hashtag #Walk100forDesmoid on your posts and Good luck!

We have created an extensive guide and communications pack to help with fundraising and managing your progress during the month - [HERE]

Fundraising

Thank you so much for thinking about fundraising for us. Fundraising is at the centre of us being able to provide grants. Every £250 raised will provide a grant to support somebody diagnosed with a Desmoid tumour.

We are just starting on our journey and every penny really matters to us and the people we want to help. It’s completely up to you how you fundraise. From cake baking to sky diving to world record attempts of counting sheep, we would love you to get involved. If you have an event coming up soon like a run or bike ride why not raise some money for the charity at the same time?

Our Just Giving link will make sure your donations reach us immediately, and we promise to turn your donations into grants to help people as quickly as we possibly can.

As we grow, we will also have some organised events, please register here and we can invite you when we have more information.

To start fundraising for us you can use this link to set up your own fundraising page in Just Giving.

Providing Grants to those that need them

We are working very hard to raise the funds we need to open our grant application service. Rest assured it is on its way.

Update - 1st August-25

We are excited to say we are making progress. We have recently completed a trial to check our application and grant giving process and we’re thrilled to have given a number of grants as part of this. We are now evaluating the feedback with patients and the clinical team and once we have this completed we will update you all.
